STEPTOE – A hiker found a .22 rifle in bushes at the Steptoe Butte State Park on March 29.

The rifle was near the camping area. The hiker took it home and turned it in at the Pullman Police Department.

They declined it and referred it to the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office, according to a sheriff’s office spokesperson.

The serial numbers were not found on the rifle, stopping the sheriff’s office from determining if it is stolen air who originally owned it.
