Businesses can direct taxes

COLFAX – Local business owners can direct taxes back into the community under the Washington Main Street program.

Washington businesses can direct their B&O or PU taxes to the Colfax Downtown Association instead of paying taxes and letting the government allocate the funding, local officials said.

Businesses get a 75% contribution credit to use towards the taxes owed for the following year and they also get to use that contribution as a charitable donation write-off for the current tax year, Downtown Association Executive Director Whitney Bond said.
