COLFAX - The Whitman County SWAT vehicle rolled through Colfax on Nov. 18 with several patrol cars on their way to training.
The SWAT unit is made of Whitman County sheriff's deputies, and officers from the Pullman and Washington State University police departments, said Sheriff Brett Myers.
The unit was driving between locations as they made their way to an abandoned house to train. The house and the courthouse have been used for training on how to respond to an active shooter.
SWAT is planning to use the courthouse while it is empty during the building remodel.
The green vehicle is named after Deputy Justin Richard DeRosier. He died in 2019 responding to a report of an abandoned motorhome while serving the Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office. DeRosier was a former Whitman County sheriff's deputy for three years.
