Mandates don't include sheriff's office

COLFAX - Gov. Jay Inslee's demand for state employees to be vaccinated against COVID doesn't affect the Whitman County Sheriff's Office.
"It doesn't really affect us. We're not under the governor's mandate. That's a medical choice," said Sheriff Brett Myers. "We encourage people to be safe and get the vaccine. If not, that's their choice."
The sheriff is not requiring vaccinations for deputies or staff.
"I don't think you'll find a sheriff with a different stance," he said.
