Highway 27 closed due to wildfire near Spokane Valley

SPOKANE VALLEY — State Highway 27 is closed five miles south of the city due to multiple wildfires.
The highway is currently closed between Belmont and Gibbs roads, the Washington State Patrol reported at 2:20 p.m. today, April 14.
"Multiple brush fires spreading and causing low visibility," the patrol reported.
An estimated time for reopening is not yet available.
Highway 27 connects Spokane Valley to areas of Whitman County, including Tekoa, Oakesdale and Garfield.
