COLFAX — A bid of $198,000 is in to crush 40,000 tons of rock at the Whitman County-owned Cherry Cove quarry north of Winona.

County commissioners opened two bids Monday for the gravel project. Lewiston-based DeAtley Crushing Company submitted the low bid. Seubert Excavators, of Cottonwood, Idaho, bid $213,160.

By law, commissioners take the lowest qualified bid.

Commissioners intend to award the project March 1, after a standard review.
