Handy reports from vaccination operations

PULLMAN - New county commissioner Tom Handy worked as a volunteer at two county COVID-19 vaccine operations last weekend, reporting a smooth operation.

Handy spoke to fellow commissioners about it in a workshop session Tuesday morning.

Handy directed traffic at Pullman Regional Hospital at the Saturday session, which gave shots to an estimated 650 people.

On Sunday, Handy ran vaccine shoots – first application as well as booster shots – to tables at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, for an event that served an estimated 825 people.

"Both operations were very well-run, they moved a lot of people through. There's such an amazing amount of teamwork happening," Handy said, noting the direction of Chris Skidmore, Whitman County Health Department director. "It was just really fun to see how it works and be able to help."
