Pot zoning input taken until Nov. 4

COLFAX — People wanting to be heard about their views on a marijuana zoning ordinance for Whitman County can take part in a hearing Nov. 4.

The Whitman County planning commission is holding a public hearing on a proposed new zoning ordinance to regulate the production, processing, and retailing of recreational marijuana on Wednesday, Nov. 4.

The hearing re-starts the process that was paused after the arrival of COVID-19.

Whitman County commissioners asked the planning commission to draw up an ordinance in March 2019, after they first passed a six-month moratorium on any new marijuana operations in the county.

Commissioners have since extended the moratorium twice.

The Nov. 4 hearing will be held online at 7 p.m. on Zoom, including a call-in option. More information on how to connect to the meeting may be found at whitmancounty.org, on the planning department page.

Written comments may be submitted by 5 p.m. Nov. 4 to Whitman County Planning Office, P.O. Box 430, Colfax, WA 99111-0430.
