Tekoa man charged with child rape

TEKOA — A 19-year-old Tekoa man was booked into Whitman County Jail Aug. 23 on two counts of rape of a child. According to the arrest report, the victim was 13-years-old at the time of the incident.

The accused, Carl Shelton, was also booked on one charge of tampering with a witness. According to the report, he allegedly offered the reporting party marijuana to keep her from telling anyone. Bail was set at $100,000 surety or $10,000 cash. Preliminary appearance is set for Friday....
