Gun grab add charges

PULLMAN – A Pullman man was booked June 22 on five charges including one for allegedly attempting to disarm an officer after he was handcuffed.

According to the police report, Pullman Police arrested Darien Armstrong, 22, of Pullman, June 22 for trespassing at the Sunset Mart from which he had been banned from last year for alleged stealing. The report states when officers placed him in handcuffs, Armstrong was resistive and refused to follow orders or cooperate. At one point he allegedly grabbed the rear portion of an officer's handgun slide and frame with his left hand while in handcuffs.

A second case against Armstrong was filed the same day for alleged charges of residential burglary. The police report states a man returned home to allegedly find Armstrong passed out on the couch with the kitchen "ransacked" and food consumed. According to the report, Armstrong did not have permission to be there or eat the food.

Both reports state Armstrong appeared to be under the influence of intoxicants and allegedly had an odor of alcohol and he has indications of mental health problems.

Armstrong was booked for third degree assault, residential burglary, criminal trespass, obstruction of law enforcement officer and disarming a law enforcement officer.

He was scheduled for a preliminary appearance Tuesday afternoon.
