Humane society sets fur ball date

Whitman County Humane Society's 13th annual fundraising event, Fur Ball & Yappy Hour, will be Saturday, Feb. 22, at Schweitzer Event Center starting at 4 p.m. The theme this year is “The Good, The Bad, & The Snuggly.” Guests are encouraged to dress according to the theme. Pullman Mayor Glenn Johnson will emcee.

The event will be catered by Happy Day Catering. Appetizers and “Yappy Hour” will start at 5 p.m. and dinner will start at 6:15 p.m.

The keynote speaker, Renee Piper, is a professional dog trainer and owner of Tail Waggin' Adventures. With more than 20 years of experience with dogs, Piper will talk about the responsibility of adopting a dog, the value of human-animal bonding and resources to enhance that relationship.

Some of the shelter animals will be showcased in the “Parade of Pets.”

WCHS hopes to raise 25 percent of its annual operating cost at this event.

Among auction items are a week at the Delta Grand Okanogan Resort, a six-month family membership to the Pullman Aquatic Fitness Center, $150 gift certificate for services at Evergreen Veterinary Clinic and a one-hour visit from the Pullman Fire Department for a birthday party.

Tickets can be purchased online at WCHS's website.
