Tough as Nails in Colfax

December 5, 2019

The Tough as Nails group from Rosalia was in Colfax Wednesday, Dec. 4, to assemble folded origami paper swan kits which will be delivered to hospitals in the area for distribution to patients at the end of December. The goal is to send out 1,000 of the swan kits.

Tough as Nails is comprised of the three Bothman sisters, Camie, Maicy and Leslie. They are the daughters of Brian and Caryn Bothman of Rosalia.

The trio has a support group which includes Tori McLain, Chloe Place, Christina Ward and Elise and Clare Wilkins.

Each kit includes a folded swan, an instruction sheet, five sheets of paper to fold swans and a wish for the recipient.

Members of the CHS Honor Society and the boys and girls basketball teams assisted Wednesday after school in the CHS cafeteria. Wednesday is early release day in Colfax.

Caryn Bothman said the Rosalia group to date has folded more the 900 of the origami swans.

The Japanese proverb holds that a person who sends out 1,000 origami swans will have their wish come true.
