Mills tops XC qualifiers for state run at Pasco

Garfield/Palouse senior Anais Mills led a field of 66 runners for the top finish in the regional run Saturday on the Chewelah Golf Course. Mills, who won the SE district race here last week, clocked 19:24.15 to finish 26 seconds ahead of Mya Edwards of Kettle Falls, winner of the district seven girls run last week at Harrington.

Anna Cocking of Colfax placed fifth in the girls race to lead the Bulldogs to a third-place team finish which qualifies them for the state run Saturday at the Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco. The first four girls teams, and the first five boys teams qualify for the state run.

Led by an eighth-place finish by junior Josh Huber, the Bulldog boys finished fourth at Chewelah.

Easton Pomrankey, the Kettle Falls dominator, won at Chewelah with a 16:42.21 clocking to lead NWC's Ben Graham who clocked 17:12.15.

Asotin took the team win with a 79. Other team finishers were St. George's 101, Davenport 112, Colfax 119, Valley Christian 133, Kettle Falls 136, Chewelah 163, Northwest Christian 176, Wilbur/Creston 198, Republic 237, Wellpinit 307, Tekoa/Rosalia 318 and Garfield/Palouse 325.

Scores for the girls teaks were St. George's 61, Kettle Falls 71, Colfax 79, Garfield/Palouse 83, Republic 135, NW Christian 142, Asotin 142, Lind/Ritzville 162.

Other finishers for the Colfax girls were Madison Dingman, 19th at 22:13; Hannah Baerlocher, 32nd at 23:29; Jorga Slate, 36th at 23:41; Kaitlyn Cornish, 42nd at 24:28, and Emma Miller, 45th at 24:50.

Others finishers for GP were Kennedy Cook, 9th 21:18; Samantha Snekvik, 29th at 23:15, and Jessica Olson, 39th at 20:02.

SJEL had three qualifiers for state with Catherine Treis, 17th at 22:08; Ellie Tollett, 18th at 22:12, and Lauren Stubbs, 23rd at 22:39. Marianne Treis finished 46th at 25:14.

Tekoa/Rosalia freshman Trinity Bingaman qualified at 16th with a 22:07.

Other finishers for the Bulldog boys were Kolby Slate, 13th at 17:43; Dyamin Vanek, 25th at 18:10; Ryan Henning, 37th at 18:35; Kolby Sisk, 38th at 18:36; Ryan Baljo. 53rd 19:21 and Tyler Bober, 57th at 19:24.

Erik Lazcano of TR qualified for state with a 34th at 18:27.

Other county finishers in the boys race at Chewelah were Ethan Cook-GP, 51st at19:19.44; Logan Marconi-SJEL, 52nd at 19:19.45; Joey Murray-TR 60th 19:42; Colby Dugger-GP, 72nd at 20:16; Brandon Hallan-GP, 73rd at 20:20; Danny Laughary-GP, 75th at 20:33; Rorry Maloney-SJEL, 76th at 21:03; Austin Goyke-TR, 81st at 21:11; Alex McHargue-TR, 84th at 21:44; Austin Jones-GP 85th at 21:48; Josh Appel-GP, 89th at 22:09, and Bryce Casey-TR 96th at 25:41.
