Drug charges filed

Formal charges were filed last Wednesday in superior court against the two suspects arrested at Oakesdale May 4 on drug charges. Thomas McBride, 53, Oakesdale, and Everett Johnson, 64, Garfield, were each charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver.

Sheriff's office arrest reports allege baggies of methamphetamine were found on Johnson's person during a search after he was initially stopped for a faulty tail light and was subsequently arrested for driving with a suspended license. The report said the Toyota pickup truck Johnson was driving was stopped on Highway 27 near the Hume Road intersection while departing Oakesdale.

Deputies later went to McBride's residence and arrested McBride after allegedly finding a ziplock bag containing 30 grams of methamphetamine in a garbage can inside the residence on Third Street in Oakesdale.

Bond for pre-trial release was set during Monday's first court appearances at $50,000 surety for McBride and $25,000 for Johnson with a next court appearance set for Friday.

Chief Deputy Prosecutor Daniel LeBeau filed the charges.

McBride remained in jail in lieu of posting bond.
