Virtual Reality Wednesdays will start at library

March 21, 2019

Virtual Reality Wednesdays at Whitman County Library will begin March 27 in the TEK Center at Colfax Library with two experiences, Dreamdeck and First Contact. Additional experiences will be added weekly.

Appointments will run from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. with each session lasting approximately 20 minutes. To schedule, stop in or call the Colfax Branch. All participants must be 13 and older.

Support for the program comes from Washington State Library, the University of Washington I-School and Oculus.

Residents, school and teen groups can schedule appointments to experience this amazing world of computer generated, three dimensional imagery.

The library will schedule virtual reality sessions in county school classrooms, after-school sessions or for other organized groups that serve youth 13 and older. The library plans to expand Virtual Reality in other branch locations later this spring and summer.

Due to health concerns of the equipment manufacturer, Oculus, every participant will be required to read the health and safety warnings and sign a waiver of liability. Teens will need to have their waiver signed by a parent or guardian.

To schedule an appointment on Virtual Reality Wednesdays, call the library at Colfax, 397-4366.
