Serving Whitman County since 1877

Salzman serves as Endicott mayor

Steve Salzman has been appointed in a unanimous decision by the town council to serve as mayor for Endicott for the remainder of this year. He has served on the Endicott city council since 2013.

Salzman takes the position vacated by Dave Bilow, who resigned due to health issues at the end of February.

“I thought that I could provide some service to the town,” said Salzman. “When our previous mayor had to resign, I thought I should step up.”

The change has opened up a seat on the town council that needs to be filled. Endicott town council is made up of five members.

Residents interested in serving on the council are asked to send a letter of interest to the Town Hall by noon April 8.

Four of the Endicott council positions will be up for election this year.

Filing for town council positions by mail will be from April 29-May17.

In person filings at the elections office in Colfax will be from May 13 to 17.

Endicott council meets once-a-month.

The person appointed to Salzman’s seat would be in the office until the end of the year. The seat will be included on the roster for this year’s local elections.

Salzman has not yet decided if he will run for mayor in November.

Endicott is also still looking for a maintenance person.
