Whitman County commissioners will again keep their committee assignments the same to carry over into the new year.
The roles often remain from year-to-year as the three commissioners’ work takes them to meetings around eastern Washington and to Olympia.
Consistent committee assignments allows a representative to become more steeped in a particular subject.
The boards commissioners serve on meet at various intervals, some quarterly, some three times per year and some with teleconferences interspersed.
Some of the committees are advisory boards to the commissioners, such as the Board of Adjustment, Road and Bridge Advisory Board, Emergency Communication Advisory Committee and the Water Conservancy board. These are attended by invitation only.
While commissioners Michael Largent, Art Swannack and Dean Kinzer have specific committee assignments, they sometimes switch to cover for each other to reduce travel time and costs.
