State Parks lists free days

Visitors won’t need a Discover Pass on New Year’s Day or Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday.

Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission will offer two days in January when visitors to state parks will not need a Discover Pass for day-use. The first free day is Jan. 1 and the second day is Jan. 21, Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday.

A State Parks Discover Pass to visit parks is $30 a year. One-day permits are $10.

The Discover Pass legislation provided that State Parks could designate up to 12 free days each year when the pass would not be required.
