Serving Whitman County since 1877

Eighty eight percent

The Council on Aging & Human Services is pleased to report that in fiscal year 2017, 88 percent of all donations and grants entrusted to COAHS went directly to program services.

The Finance Committee of the Board of Directors, Don Cox, Duane Gottschalk and myself have worked alongside our Executive Director, Paige Collins, and her talented staff, to ensure that each dollar given to COAHS is used efficiently. We are very proud of this financial metric and wanted to convey this to you, the people of Whitman County.

During the upcoming season of giving, you can know with confidence that when you donate $100 to COAHS/COAST, $88 goes directly to assisting 11 food banks, six senior meal sites serving more than 13,000 meals each year, home-delivered meals in Pullman and Colfax and fare-free rides from COAST Transportation - with 50 plus volunteer and staff drivers logging more than 350,000 miles each year.

Your neighbors in this county need your help. The need for nutritional assistance continues to grow, and COAST rides have grown by 62 percent in the last three years.

Our friends are needing more help each year to make ends meet, and that is what COAHS is striving to do, all while preserving individual dignity at its highest level.

After all, helping a neighbor in need is helping yourself indeed!
