Rosalia Veterans Day ceremony set for Nov. 11 at Memorial Park

Rosalia veterans will conduct a Veterans Day ceremony Sunday, Nov. 11, at 2 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, located behind the Texaco Station and visitor’s center on Whitman Street.

Patricia Voge will be the mistress of ceremony. Father Mike Savelesky will give the invocation. Rosalia Mayor Lee Root will give the welcome.

Rosalia Boy Scout Troop will present a flag ceremony and lead the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance. The Scouts will conduct a ceremony for retiring old flags.

Guest speaker will be Sr. Master Sgt. Bruce Pritchard (retired), a 22-year veteran of the United States Air Force and the Air Force Reserve. He served in Operation Freedom in Iraq. Bruce is currently a project manager for D & S Electrical Contractors.

Carl Dieseldorff, singing “America The Beautiful” will accompany himself singing the songs of the military branches.

Daughters of the American Revolution will unveil a bench dedicated to “All Veterans.” This is the 11th bench to be dedicated. These benches were placed around the area during Julie Pittmann’s term as DAR state regent.

The VFW Rifle Team will fire three volleys, and Taps will be played.

Eagle Scout Kade Holling has made a red deposit box for residents to leave their non-flyable flags before Nov. 9. The box will be on the porch of the Rosalia branch library.

Veterans who have passed away this previous year will be be given recognition during the program. Residents are encouraged to call Alice Hoffman at 509-523-6865 and let her know about deceased veterans who should be recognized.
