Leadership lessons slated at Pullman

Tony Rubleski will present "Leadership Lessons of Trailblazers to Take Your Business and Career to the Next Level" on Wednesday, Nov. 14, from noon to 1 p.m. at Holiday Inn Express, 1190 SE Bishop Blvd., Pullman. Cost to attend the 60 minute presentation, sponsored by the Pullman Chamber of Commerce, will be $15 for chamber members or $20 for non-members.

Painting night set at Oakesdale

Oakesdale Library is hosting a free canvas painting night Saturday, Nov. 3, at 6 p.m. Attendees will create a canvas masterpiece following a video tutorial from the Art Sherpa. This free event is made possible by the Palouse Wind Farm and Novatus Energy who are sponsoring the painting supplies and light refreshments.

'Newsies' begins run at RTOP

The Broadway musical Newsies, based on real events of the newsboy strike of 1899, will open at the Regional Theatre of the Palouse in Pullman tonight, Nov. 1, and run through Nov. 11.

Newsies is a story about newspaper delivery boy Jack Kelly and his band of newsies, as they take to the streets selling papers.

Many newsboys who were orphans or from poor immigrant families who took to the streets of New York striking against major news organizations for two weeks, successfully making history to increase wages and start a conversation about eventual child labor laws.

RTOP's performance of Newsies is directed by John Rich, with music direction by Tina McClure. Choreography is by Berit Preece, with specialty tap numbers choreographed by Berkley Childs.
