W-I Symphony sets concert dates

Washington Idaho Symphony will present its second concert of its 47th season under the musical direction of guest conductor, Dr. Dahn Pham, Oct. 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the Pullman High School auditorium and Oct. 21, at 3 p.m. at Clarkston High School.

The concert will feature Romantic favorites, including Capriccio Espagnol by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Romeo and Juliet Suite No. 2 by Serge Prokofiev, Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana by Pietro Mascagni, Sleeping Beauty Suite by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

They will feature Chamberpiece by symphony member, Robert Dickow.

Tickets are $25 general admission, $15 for students with a limited number of free passes, and free for 12 and under.

Dietitian will give talk on cancer treatment

Brenna VanDalsen, dietitian at Whitman Hospital, will answer nutrition questions and set the record straight on cancer prevention Oct. 24 at noon in the Colfax Library’s meeting room. She will talk on how nutrition and physical activity can help manage side effects of cancer treatment.

WSU Retirees

Palouse Heart Center’s Dr. David Jones will be the guest at the association’s meeting, Oct. 23, at 1:30 p.m. at the Pullman Senior Center, in Pullman City Hall.

Dr. Jones, a board-certified cardiologist, is now seeing patients at the Palouse Heart Center which offers full-time cardiology services in Pullman. He will provide research-based information on stroke and heart attack detection, nutrition, sleep and prevention.
