St. John Hog Jog honors 40th year running

Left: Seth Hartman, WSU student from Issaquah, placed first in the five-mile Hog Jog at 33.42.

Hartman is the grandson of Eileen Schmidt, St. John and taking part in the Hog Jog is a family tradition.

Hartman beat his brother, mom, aunts and uncles to finish first.

Above: Hartman pulls away from the pack at the start of the 40th Hog Jog Saturday morning.

Upper right: Lila Kjack, St. John, finishes first in the one-mile edition of Jog with the Hog.

Right: Adorned with pig snout, track coach and even organizer Dick Behrens uses a megaphone to speak before the starting pistol.

Far right: As he has for all 40 years of the event, Lloyd Dechenne keeps track of the time for Hog Jog runners.
