Deputy assaulted during Pullman arrest

Charges of third degree assault, criminal trespass in the first degree and obstruction of justice were filed April 18 against Kayle Irene Simpson, 22, Pullman. The assault charge alleges she kicked Deputy Tyler Langerfeld in the shin when she was being arrested outside of Stubblefield's bar in Adams Mall near the WSU campus March 28.

According to the arrest report by Pullman Officer Shane Emerson, he responded to a report of a woman being detained outside of Adams Mall at 10 minutes after midnight. Langerfeld and a bouncer at the mall were on the steps with the suspect, Simpson. The report said she had been ordered to leave the bar, and she departed but came back. She allegedly hit the bouncer, but he opted not to press charges and said they just wanted her to leave.

After she was arrested and placed in the patrol car she was taken to city hall and placed in a cell there. She has been summoned to appear in court May 11.
