Palouse promotes Dixon to city administrator

Kyle Dixon was approved for the new title of city administrator by the Palouse city council March 27, signifying the scope of work he has been doing.

The matter was brought up in January and then tabled, as part of a process by city councilman Mark Wilcomb to gather position descriptions for city employees.

Dixon, formerly the town’s clerk/treasurer, will continue his work administrating projects from the town solar farm to plans for the wastewater treatment facility and most recently, writing an application for county .09 funds to build a trail on just-donated land along the Palouse River downtown.

“These are not clerk/treasurer responsibilities,” said Palouse Mayor Michael Echanove. “Those are someone trying to administer stuff.”

Palouse has never had a city administrator.

“You get more documented work for no raise,” said Echanove. “It’s just time we make sure there’s a strong focal point at the city for project administration.”

Dixon began as clerk/treasurer in 2016, taking over for Mike Bagott, who worked the job for a year after the retirement of Joyce Beeson.

Echanove credited Bagott and Beeson with also doing administrative work.
