Weight limits on roads lifted, again

Whitman County Public Works department has begun to remove posted weight limits on roads which were posted a second time with the return of snowy, cold weather in late February.

Limits remain on several roads in the Belmont, Farmington and Tekoa areas, north of Dry Creek Road and east of Highway 195.

These roads are still closed to heavy traffic, posted with signs for a 19,500-pound load limit.

The roads are in a part of the county that had snow last weekend.

“About 80 percent of county roads are now open,” said Mark Storey, County Public Works director.
