Serving Whitman County since 1877

Road crews return to 10-hour shifts

Whitman County Road Department has switched its schedule back to four 10-hour days per week as of Monday. After working 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. five days a week since November, they returned to a 6:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. schedule for the spring and summer. The change is made twice a year in conjunction with daylight savings time.

The switch is done mainly to save costs by sending workers and equipment to and from job sites four times per week instead of five.
