Rural Alliance Art Show to make return

The Rural Alliance Art Show will return to The Center in Colfax Jan. 6-12, during library open hours. This exhibit showcases paintings, drawings, pottery, collage and sculpture created by 90 local middle and high school students. Students from Colfax, Garfield/Palouse, Oakesdale, Rosalia, and St. John/Endicott will participate.

Patty Mills, Oakesdale art teacher, noted the "art show is a valuable learning experience for the students and a unique opportunity to bring their creative efforts out of the classroom and into the community. The students take pride in seeing their work on display in a formal setting.”

The art reception will be Monday, Jan. 8, 5-6 p.m., to help celebrate the teens and their accomplishments.

The exhibit and reception are free to the public. Exhibit open during regular library hours which are Mondays-Wednesdays 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays 1 to 5 p.m.

For more information about these events, contact Patty Mills at Oakesdale School or Nichole Kopp at Whitman County Library.
