Colfax Jr-Sr High earns distinction award

Colfax Junior-Senior High was honored with a 2017 Washington School of Distinction Award during an awards ceremony at the Education Service District in Spokane Dec. 13. Colfax Junior High was recognized for five years of continuous growth in academic performance in English Language Arts and Mathematics at the middle school level.

CJSH is one of eleven schools honored in our region, and one of 98 honored state-wide this year. The award is given by the Center for Educational Effectiveness, and partner organizations, including the Association of Washington School Principals, Association of Educational Service Districts, Washington State School Directors Association and Washington Association of School Administrators.

Colfax Superintendent Jerry Pugh and Principal Carrie Lipe accepted the award, along with teachers Cathy Landers (English), Shawnna Breach (Math), Casey Zander (Math) and Jennifer Cooper (Student Services.) Principal Lipe gave a brief speech, which thanked staff, parents and community for outstanding support of student learning and outlined some of the strategies the school has put in place to ensure that all students are learning at high levels.
