Concert tour will start at Tekoa

Tekoa's Empire Theatre will be the first stop on the summer tour scheduled for the Lilac City Community Band which is based in neighboring Latah.

Director Karl Mote and his 50-plus band members will put on a concert Saturday, July 8, at 3 p.m. at the theater. Admission is free, and refreshments will be available.

The band plays everything from Shostakovich to Sousa.

The summer series consists of four concerts throughout the season.

Other concert stops will include the Veterans Hospital in Spokane July 15, Shadle Park Aug. 3 and Pinelow Park Aug. 12....
