First Thursday to feature Hankers

The second Colfax First Thursday of the season is slated today, June 1, and it will feature live entertainment from the Hankers.

The Hankers are a local country band, and they will be set up on the new Spring Street stage to provide the first in a series of live entertainment booked for each First Thursday through September.

“They’ll be set up on Spring Street opposite of where we usually have it,” said Valoree Gregory, Colfax unified executive director. “It will be between Washington Federal and the quilt shop.”

The First Thursday promotion this month will allow shoppers to be entered for the chance to win a $150 cash prize.

“People can shop all day in Colfax and then bring their receipts to the Explore Colfax booth at the library,” said Gregory. “They’ll be signed up to receive $150 cash.”

One entry will be allowed per receipt, and the receipt must be dated June 1 to be valid. The receipts will be traded in for raffle tickets that will be drawn at the end of the day.

Some businesses plan to stay open late for the fun, and 25 vendors are also expected to be lining Main Street. Two of those vendors will be food vendors, including Cowboy Dogs which has been at most of the First Thursdays. A new food vendor will also join the scene – a wood fire pizza vendor.

“He’ll be setting up at noon,” said Gregory. “It will take him a while to get going.”

First Thursday will run from 3 to 7 p.m. downtown.
