Colfax election over after filing period

Election season for local races in Colfax ended May 24 when filing closed with just one candidate filing for each of the four open city council seats and the open school board seat.

The extended filing period applied to just one seat left open on the council, and Blaine Golden switched his filing to that seat after originally filing for seat three.

Newcomers to the council will include Golden, Crystn Guenthner in seat two and Crystal Christopherson in seat three. Sarah McKnight, who was appointed to seat four last year, filed for election to the seat early last week, and she will also run unopposed.

Jennifer Hauser filed last week to retain the lone school district seat which was open for election in November.
