Apologist

I have managed to keep my blood pressure in check without upping the dosage while reading the opinions of your recently added columnist, Frank Watson.

But it has not been easy. This latest one, “We Have Lost the Spirit of Compromise,” almost pushed me over the edge. Where was he with this observation when Congress, including our very own congresswoman, promised to do nothing for eight years?

Frank seems an apologist for the person a friend of mine refers to as “The Orange One.” I don’t understand how anyone can support someone for a leadership position that has not morals and no ethics.

Daubers dollars

I think we have seen another great waste of tax money. Have any of you wondered what the state DOT was doing at the twin bridges on the north end of Colfax? Well, get ready for a good one.

The DOT used 10 employees for four days to complete this project, plus equipment and materials, of course. They did the project so they could start working on one bridge in June.

It appears another bridge project in the state was postponed because of mud daubers (swallows to you politically correct folks) had nested under the bridge. The DOT had to wait until all the little birdies had fled the nest before they could start work.

We can’t blame the DOT on this one - the state fish and game commission made the decision.

Take a look under the bridges when you drive by and you will see netting under them to keep the daubers from nesting. I don’t know what cost-benefit formula Fish and Game used, but it wouldn’t work in my operation!

Keep your powder dry.
