Four will seek Rosalia title

Four Rosalia teens are set to compete in this year's Miss Rosalia Pageant on Sunday, March 26. The “Adventures in Candyland” pageant will be at 3 p.m. in the Rosalia High School gym, and tickets are $5 and available from any of the contestants or at the door.

Jillian Bruce, the daughter of Angela Bruce and Frank Martin, plays volleyball, basketball and softball and is a member of the leadership class at Rosalia. She is on the school yearbook staff, and she is involved with planning an upcoming leadership conference for all Whitman County schools. For her talent, she will perform a tap dance routine to “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” with her two younger brothers acting as her props.

Daphne Jacobs is the daughter of Matt and Monica Jacobs. She plays basketball and is the Associated Student Body historian, junior class secretary and co-editor of the student yearbook. She also participates in the leadership class and is involved with planning the upcoming leadership conference. She enjoys singing, dancing and Broadway musicals, and will be singing “It's Quiet Uptown” from the Broadway musical “Hamilton” as her talent.

C'aira Murray, daughter of Kristi Boyce and Matthew Murray, enjoys reading, drawing, photography and cheering on the basketball team. She also likes to cook and bake and will present a monologue of her life and dreams of being part of the Miss Rosalia court for the talent portion. Her mother was a princess in 1996.

Sydney Van Dyke is the daughter of Michelle and Steve Van Dyke. She is a cheerleader for both football and basketball and also played on the golf team. She participated in school band, playing the flute and piccolo. She also held club and class officer positions and shows pigs at the Palouse Empire Fair. Currently, she is a running start student at Eastern Washington University, earning both high school and college credits. For her talent, she will perform a flute solo, playing “My Heart Will Go on,” the theme song from the movie “Titanic.”
