Transfer station baler work

With added stress from crushed glass in single-stream recycling coming from Pullman, the county transfer station's old baler may have some capital work done on it.

“The baler, even though it's old, it's still a great, serviceable baler,” County Public Works Director Mark Storey told county commissioners Monday.

Stationed in the old transfer station building – now handling recycling – it was made by the Harris Company.

The baler, an estimated 30 years old, would cost between $500,000 to $750,000 to replace new. Storey estimates a cost of $50,000 to $100,000...
