Oakesdale books 11-12 at SunDome volleyball fest

Oakesdale sophomore Logan Reed hits in the final at the Yakima SunDome.

Oakesdale Nighthawks rolled up wins in 11 of 12 sets Saturday in the big SunDome volleyball festival at Yakima. The festival totaled 32 teams on the dome floor.

Oakesdale's run put them in ninth place overall in the results.

The lone split for the ’hawks came against Kiona-Benton in the third round of pool play.

They defeated Cashmere and Bear Creek in pool matches and then advanced to bracket play where they swept Columbia/White Salmon, White Swan and Goldendale to finish the 11-12 run.

Tuesday Oakesdale took out Garfield/Palouse on 25-10 25-9 and 25-5 in the first round of SE league play. Logan Reed hit eight aces and booked six digs and a block. Jacey Johnson hit 10 kills at the Vikings, and Lindsey Lindgren had 20 assists.

Colton opened league play with a three-game win over LaCrosse/Washtucna/ Kahlotus on the Wildcats' court 25-19 25-20 and 25-10.

Emma Schultheis booked seven kills, three blocks and six aces against LWK and Jordyn Moehrle had 17 digs. Abby Kelly put up 15 assists.

Pomeroy traveled to St. John for the league opener and defeated the Eagles 25-18 25-11 and 25-12 with freshman Madison Dixon hitting 10 kills. Sydney Smith had 25 assists and 11 digs for the Pirates.

Jadyn Corder hit seven kills and one block for the Eagles and added five digs. Glory Dickerson had 11 assists, and Hunter Hollingsworth had eight kills and three blocks.
