Beth Christie’s daughter Jordan, son-in-law Kevin and 14-month-old granddaughter Kendall Ann from Albion, NY, visited from Sept. 1 through 4. That Saturday, Jordan and Kevin attended a Dave Matthews Band concert at the Gorge while Beth and Loren Scaggs got to babysit Kendall. They took her to the Dale and Vicki Broeckel/Kim Gustafson farm to see the animals and ride a horse. After the guests left, Beth and Loren went to Priest Lake for a couple of days.

Thursday evening, Tom and Doreen Riedner hosted dinner at their home for Craig and Melle Steiger of Novato, Calif., and Ann Steiger, Marnie Harker, Thom Norris and Eric Markow from Washington, D.C. The guests were in the area to attend the graveside services for their parents/friends, Don and Bettie Steiger, on Monday.

A number of Dusty area residents attended funeral services last week for Diane Pitts of Steptoe at the Baptist Church in Colfax. Diane was the wife of Dusty native Jon Pitts. Some also attended the graveside services, with full military honors, at the Colfax Cemetery and reception at the Bettie Steiger Community Enrichment Center, located adjacent to the Whitman County Library, Monday for Don and Bettie Steiger. Bettie passed away in 2008 and Don in 2015. Their children, grandchildren and some friends flew in from California, New York and Washington, D.C., for the ceremony.

Joan Broeckel visited with her mother, Jean Shippee, and sister, Julie VanDerPol and her family in Seattle last week. Ed and Joan traveled to Boise last Saturday to visit their daughter, Amber, and to watch the Boise State vs. WSU game together.

Bryan, Fran and Gena Jones and Gena’s children, Meggie and Damien Perron, drove to Hayden, Idaho, on Sunday where they celebrated Damien’s 21st birthday at the home of Warren and Julie Jones. Meggie returned to Walla Walla on Monday where she will continue to work at Home Depot and attend community college there.
