October ghost hunt schedule released

Haunted Hospital at St. Ignatius will be back in October with a variety of options available this time around. A lease was signed last month to allow for the use of the building for haunted attractions to continue for at least another year.

Colfax's First Thursday event Oct. 6 will have one-hour ghost tours every hour-and-a-half starting at 5 p.m. This will be the only day where the one-hour format will be available. Cost to participate is $10, and the tour begins in downtown Colfax near Fonk's about 15 minutes before the tour time. Ghost hunters will be taken to the hospital on a hay ride. The first tour starts at 5 p.m., and the last tour that night will start at 11 p.m.

A two-hour format will also be available Oct. 2, 9, 16 and 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. These tours will be guided and include the history of the building and areas where paranormal activity has occurred. Tour cost will be $25. Participants are asked to bring a flashlight.

The three-hour ghost hunt format that was introduced last October will also be offered. This option will allow participants to explore the paranormal activity of the hospital building with guides and equipment. They are slated for Oct. 8, 15, 22 and 29 from 9 p.m. to midnight. They are limited to 20 people on each tour or hunt.

For those not wanting to enter the haunted hospital at night, historic day tours will also be offered. The hour-and-a-half tours will be at 1 p.m. Oct. 8, 15, 22 and 29. Participants should meet at the hospital at 1 p.m. to check in, and cost is $15.

Two overnight ghost hunts have also been booked. “Spend the Night” in St. Ignatius is slated for those 18 and older Saturday, Oct. 1, starting at 9 p.m. Bed frames, air mattresses and ghost equipment will be provided, and participants are asked to bring a sleeping bag, warm clothes and flashlights. Cost for the sleepover is $75. The overnighter will conclude at 6 a.m. A second sleepover only for high school students is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 21, starting at 10 p.m. The $25 sleepover is exclusive for 14 to 18-year-olds.

The next haunted festivity booked at the building next month is a scary movie night and ghost tour Oct. 30. The horror movie will begin at 6 p.m. with popcorn, and the ghost tour will follow the movie. Twenty-five seats are available for this night for $25 each.

The final event to close out the month will be the Halloween Fright Night Monday, Oct. 31. The two-hour ghost hunt begins at 9 p.m. and costs $35.

Private ghost hunts can also be booked online. Private hunts last three hours and require a five person minimum. Cost is $60.

Any of the haunted attractions can be booked at colfaxhauntedhospital.com.
