Tekoa/Rosalia will play eights slate again, open Sept. 9

Tekoa/Rosalia Timberwolves will again play a schedule of eight-man foes in non-league match ups this year. The football mode for the T-wolves will be the same as last year, but the travel miles should be fewer, according to coach Scott Eaton.

Last year, TR's search for non-league foes in the eight ranks sent them as far as Darrington.

The T-Wolves, who are in the state 2B division, cannot qualify for playoff action by opting to play eight-man football against teams in the 1B division. Because of a lack of players, they followed the same mode last year.

The team's slated opener this week, against Cusick, was scratched when Cusick called and said they could not make the date. That moves the opener back to Sept. 9 when they will travel to Colton for the first of two games this year against the Wildcats.

Coach Eaton, who is starting his second year as a varsity coach, will be again assisted by Russ Tampien and Cullen Grow this season.

The team has 16 players out for the team.

Four senior grads off of last year's team were Cody Thornton, Chase Neill, Hunter Fulton and Chase Deane.

Also out of the lineup will be receiver Alex Pakootas who has moved out of the Tekoa district.

Coach Eaton said Kade Holling and Eddie Frick could be in the QB slot this year. Steven Brown, now a senior, should see action at running back. Mike Greyback, a 6'1'' senior, will be one of the top receivers.

Regulars on the line will be Dillon Eaton at center, Joe Rerecich, now a sophomore, and Noah Beach, a new player.

Beach starts football after campaigning during the summer with the Pullman Posse Legion team which went all the way to the state junior finals.
