Endicott has its first Tin Foil Man triathlon in the books. A spoof off the Ironman competition, the Tin Foil Man took participants on a 250-yard swim, six-mile bike ride loop on the Winona Road and a 1.75-mile walk/run in town.

The kids' versions included 50 or 100-meter swim, a half mile or two-mile bike ride and a half mile or one-mile walk/run.

“It went awesome,” said Jamie Misner, event organizer. “I thought it went really well.”

About 70 adult and youth participants turned out for the event, and some came from out of town.

“There were some folks from the Seattle area, and people from Spokane and Winona, St. John and Colfax,” said Misner. “We got people from the surrounding areas coming out to Endicott. It's fun.”

Misner said this was a good way to bring the community together for a fun, low-key event.

“It's doing something fun and positive in Endicott,” she said.

Misner also noted the range of ability levels in participants. The age span was from 3-years-old to about 60, and some were participating for the first time in a triathlon event. She noted that the male who finished first actually competed the day before in the Canadian Off Road Triathlon National Championship. Additionally, several mothers who recently gave birth participated. Misner said this aspect helped to make the Tin Foil Man a success.

“People were competitive, but people made it what they wanted to make it,” she said.

Misner also noted that everything the day of the triathlon went well.

“Everything went super smooth,” she said. “It went off without a hitch, and there were no injuries.”

She said there are plans for another Tin Foil Man next year.
