Tour de Lentil stops here

A stop for riders in the Tour de Lentil ride from Pullman Saturday morning was set up at the Columbia Bank lot in Colfax. Bicycle riders who departed Pullman as early at 6:15 a.m. in the Lentil Festival event began arriving at the stop here after about 8 a.m.

Riders entering Colfax via the Almota Road from Onecho were participating in either the 150K or 100K tour rides which looped back to Pullman. Riders on the 150K loop headed north to Steptoe Butte where they were scheduled to ride up the butte before returning to Pullman via Garfield and Palouse.

To depart Colfax, the 150K riders crossed the Highway 26 spur bridge at the north end of town and then made the climb on the Green Hollow Road on the way to Highway 23 and Steptoe. Riders on the 100K route departed Colfax toward Palouse.

The tour also had a 50K loop which included the Hamilton grade and back to Pullman via Albion.

A barbecue for the riders followed next to WSU’s Lighty Hall, the early morning starting point for the ride.
