Individual points tallied at league meet

The setting sun adding an extra glow on winners in one of the final relay events at Schmuck Park Aug. 6. The Cluckey Cup meet included 220 swimmers from six teams.

Results from the Tri-County all-league swim meet at Colfax last week included a compilation of total individual points earned by swimmers in the six-team meet. Awards at the end of the meet are presented to the top point winners for boys and girls in the senior race events and in the junior events.

The two junior age classes, 8 & under and 10 & under, included races for the four basic strokes, freestyle, butterfly, breaststroke and backstroke.

The three older age groups competed in two additional events, the 100 freestyle and the 100 individual medley.

Pullman's Simon Brannan topped the meet with a run of wins in all six of the events in the 14 & under class. Brannan finished with 42 points for the meet.

In addition to going undefeated in the individual events, Brannan was a member of the Pullman team which won the freestyle and IM relay races which posted records.

Event winners are awarded seven points with second-place finishers awarded five points and the next four finishers getting four, three, two and one point respectively. Relay events are not included in the tabulations for individual scoring.

Emmy Gregg of Garfield/Palouse/ Oakesdale/Plummer topped the senior girls class with 39.5 points.

Eight-year-old Dillon Thompson of Pullman also posted a sweep with wins in all four of the individual events in the boys junior class to finish with 28 points.

Bree Myers of Pullman and Sophie Anderson of St. John/Endicott/LaCrosse/ Washtucna tied for the junior girls honor with 23 points each.
