Third bolt fails on landfill crane

Whitman County Public Works will switch out another bolt on the crane at the new county transfer station building.

After two broken bolts were replaced on the orange Grizzly model crane soon after the facility opened in April 2015, another faulty bolt was discovered last week.

Since Grizzly's manufacturer sent four replacement bolts at the time, the county will use one to replace the latest faulty bolt later this week or next.

“Lift the crane, core the bolt, put the crane back in,” said Mark Storey, county public works director.
