Ackerman daughters gather to visit area cemeteries

Dusty

Daughters of the late Bob and Marie Ackerman, who spent the weekend at the Parsonage Bed and Breakfast, included Robin Legg, Sisters, Ore .; Ann Petzel, Lake of the Ozarks, Mo .; Laura Burnside McElligott, North Bend, Ore. and Lisa Emtman, Valleyford. They visited the cemeteries of Dusty, Hay, LaCrosse, Endicott and Colfax during their stay. They are the granddaughters of the late Henry and Betty Ackerman who lived in Dusty and donated the land where the Dusty cemetery is located. They attended the Country Bible Church morning worship service on Sunday before returning to their homes.

Vacation Bible School will be available for preschool through fifth graders at the Methodist Church in LaCrosse from June 13 to 15 from 9:30 a.m. until noon. Call Leanne Bafus or Di Brink for more information.

Mark and Kathy Vogler announce the arrival of their second grandchild, Owen Markus Assareh, born to Anna (Vogler) Assareh and Chad Assareh, May 19. Owen arrived a bit earlier than planned, but is doing very well. He joins sister Iris, age 3.

Denise Kendall, Tacoma, spent most of Memorial Day weekend with her father, Oscar Broeckel, and her sister, Doreen Riedner. She drove over Thursday evening and returned to her home Sunday.

Dick and Helen Appel attended the wedding of their grandson, Jim Appel, to Catie Fairgrieve, Gig Harbor, in Bend, Ore. The ceremony was officiated by Mark Vogler.

Bob and Judy Records, Newberg, Ore., were weekend guests of Art and Colene Sager. Bob is Colene’s brother. Also visiting Monday were Blake and Marcy Sager and children, Colfax, and Jason and Loridee Wetzel and children, Portland.

David and Phyllis Stueckle attended a graduation reception Sunday at the home of Dennis and Julie Kinkade for graduates Tyler Kinkade and Ashtyn Aune, daughter of Leonard and Stacy Aune. The Stueckles also attended the Memorial Day service at the Colfax Cemetery.

Saturday, Judy and Marc Watson joined family and friends for an early graduation party for Marc’s son Jesse at the home of Jesse’s mother in Lewiston. Jesse will graduate next weekend from Lewiston High School.

Saturday, Larry and Di Brink drove to Boyer Park and visited with John and Brandi Brink and daughters who were camping there. Monday the Brinks had a picnic lunch at their home with guests John, Brandi, Myla and Alexia Brink, Colfax; Mike Stine, LaCrosse, and Joan and Lucky Myrick, Dusty.

Dianne Morris, Valleyford, and Jeanne Levy, Tacoma, spent Saturday with their sister, Jan Smith. The sisters visited the cemeteries in Dusty and Colfax. Sunday they all spent the day at Dianne’s home. While there, Dianne’s daughter Kris and her daughters Brooke and Avery stopped by to visit.

More than 50 visitors to the Dusty Cemetery signed the guest book. Among those paying their respects were from as far away as Utah and Missouri. The graves were beautifully decorated for Memorial Day weekend. Left flowers and arrangements will be on a flatbed truck parked by the fire shed in Dusty, the same place as in other years.
