Last week Wednesday, the Dusty B.B. Club's annual guest day luncheon was at the Jones Schoolhouse on the Palouse Empire Fairgrounds. Joseph’s Grainery presented the program on how their business started, plans for the future and how their grain products are used. They also brought recipe cards and free packages of their products for the members and their guests. This was the culminating event of the season.
B.B. Club meetings will resume the second Wednesday in October at the parish hall of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in LaCrosse to make baby blankets for the free maternity clinic at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane.
Barb Wollstein, Lacey, and Deb and Bob Stavig, Brush Prairie, visited Dick and Helen Appel for a family bridal shower and helped Helen in the yard for Mother’s Day. Bruce, Elaine, Spencer and Charlie Appel, Spokane, cooked Mother’s Day dinner for Dick and Helen.
John Paul Appel celebrated his first birthday with a dinner in his honor at the home of his parents, Liz and Neil Appel. Guests were Erin Locke, classmate of Liz from Tacoma; Dick and Helen Appel, Dusty; Eric, Shannon, Sarah, Kyle and Sidney Appel, Dusty, and Lisa, Travis, Miriam, Rachel, Emma and Colette Frei, Palouse.
Art and Colene Sager attended a Flying Farmer luncheon at The Farmer’s Daughter Café in Kahlotus on Saturday. Later in the afternoon, Andy and Sheila Slinkard, Mesa, joined them at Palouse Falls. The two couples hiked and took pictures. They were amazed at how many people were at the remote location. Both parking lots were full.
