Lakeside track summary

Colfax track team members went to the district meet on the track in Lakeside Wednesday, April 20, and stacked up its usual ration of wins, but the official readout of point totals excluded Colfax.

Coach Jason Cooper said he is pretty sure the Bulldogs won the meet, but it does not show on the posted results.

Colfax Athletic Director Nathan Holbrook said the meet was originally set for April 19 and was later changed to last Wednesday. An entry mixup led to Colfax entries being left out of the computer rollout for the point totals.

Scout Cai won the 100, 200, pole vault and high jump. She took the high jump with a season-best of 5-4, and she clocked a 12.48 in the 100 meter sprint.

Carmen Gfeller again took wins in the 100 and 300 hurdles.

Both Colfax 4x400 relay teams won with Caleb Brown, Riley Griffiths, Toby Warwick and Ben Ahmann on the boys team, and Gfeller, Piper Cai, Olivia Mellor and Sara Kraut on the girls team. Kraut also had a best-yet time of 2:36 in the 800 to place second, and Piper Cai placed second to her sister in the pole vault at 8-0. Caleb Brown was second in the high jump at 6-0 and first in the pole vault at 11-0.

Valley Christian was listed as the team winner on the boys side with 96.5 points. St. John/Endicott placed eighth with 33.5 points, and Tekoa/Rosalia placed 11th with 25.

Host Reardan was listed as the winner on the girls side with 148 beans, a 40-point edge over Lind/Ritzville/Sprague. LaCrosse/Washtucna girls scored 24 points; St. John/Endicott totaled 16 and Tekoa/Rosalia three.
