Colton beats Colfax, now 9-3

The Colton softball team went to Colfax Monday and beat the 2B Bulldogs 9-5.

Kendyl Druffel led at bat, going 3-for-4 with an RBI while Rachel Meyer went 2-for-3, also with one RBI. Abby Kelly also went 2-for-3.

On the mound for Colton (9-3 overall) was Emily Schultheis, throwing the first two innings to allow three hits with two strikeouts and a walk. Emma Schultheis pitched for four innings, giving up two hits with four strikeouts and two walks.

Playing at home Tuesday against Asotin, Colton won 11-4.

Meyer led with a three-run home run while Kelly also hit a home run.

Emma Schultheis pitched all seven innings, allowing eight hits with five strikeouts and four walks.

“We hit the ball well tonight,” said Colton coach Brad Nilson. “Defensively, Emma did a great job, she kept balls inside the park. Put it on the ground so we can get to it or pop it up so we can run it down.”

Other hitters for the Wildcats included Emily Schultheis, who went 3-for-4 with an RBI and Jordan Moehrle, 2-for-3.

The team was set to play next on Wednesday at home against 2B Davenport, followed by a doubleheader at Pomeroy Saturday.
