City drops water bill request

A request to write off city charges on a water bill was rejected March 7 by the Colfax City Council. Andrew and Jaelene Gudmunson asked the city to forgive the sum due for water which was believed to have gone through the residence because of a faulty toilet.

Billing for the residence during a three month period amounted to 12,991 cubic feet above normal usage for an extra $104 on the bill.

The Gudmunsons said the faulty toilet was in a part of the residence which is no longer in use and they were unaware of the leak.

The request stopped for lack of formal motion. Councilman Jim Kackman noted city policy does not provide for reimbursement for water loss which occurs inside a residence or other building.
