Yarnell’s team wins three at Mesa event

The Yankees team which includes Colfax junior Brody Yarnell, 17, rolled out a 3-0 record in two days of action at the Under Armour Baseball Recruiting Classic in Mesa, Ariz. Yarnell was was among 130 players from across the nation assigned to teams in the event which started Sunday with workshops and advice from professionals.

The Yankees Monday defeated the Cardinals in their opener 7-1. Yarnell tagged one hit and struck out in his other plate appearance.

Tuesday, the Yankees played in a double header with the first win over the Brewers and the second over the Giants.

They topped the Brewers 4-1, with Yarnell scoring one of the runs. Yarnell was hit by a pitch to get on base and stole second and third base before being hit home. He doubled in his next plate appearance.

The final game, which was between the top undefeated finalists, was slated for Wednesday morning.
