Three Bulldog wrestlers medal at Pomeroy meet

Colfax wrestlers finished second among 15 teams Tuesday in the big Pomeroy tournament with three wrestlers taking titles. The Bulldog-Gar-Pal combo rolled up 124 points to finish behind Kittitas who topped the entry with 166 points.

Reggie Jones at 145, Mitch Barney at 152 and Nick McAdams at 220 each won titles. Jones and Barney rolled up 3-0 records at the tourney and McAdams finished at 2-0.

Jones and Travis Knauff of Garfield-Palouse collided again in the title bout, and Jones took the title with a 12-9.

Barney took the 152 title by pinning Tyler Schwartz of Orofino with 10 seconds left in the match.

McAdams decisioned Dietrick Mueller of Pullman 4-2 in the 220 title match.

Garrett Phillips placed second at 1-1 in the 106 class with a third round pin over Shane Lund of Enterprise in his final round.

Chris Jones placed third with a 3-1 record in the 132 class. He was derailed by Cole Dahmen of Pullman 3-5 in overtime and then won his last match 11-6 in the consolation bracket.

Other finishes were 120-Joey Rogers 2-2 for fifth, 126-Jonas Canup 1-3; 145-Dane Hall 2-2 for sixth, and 145-Knauff 1-2 for second.

Last Tuesday in the Central Valley invitational, sophomore Chris Jones rolled up a 5-0 record to take the 132 title in the big invitational meet.

Jones defeated Caleb Cole of Reardan 6-5 in the title match. Cole was a third-place finisher at state last year.

Jones compiled a 4-1 record to finish second in the 145 bracket, and Knauff, who also finished 4-1, placed third.

Other finishers for Colfax were 106-Garrett Phillips, 0-2; 126-Jonas Canup 3-2 for seventh; 145, Hall 3-2 for sixth, and 22 McAdams, 4-1 for fifth.
